LIC AAO | QUANT QUIZ - 19 | S W A G

Directions (Q. 1-10): Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions :-

1. On a School’s Annual Day sweets were to be equally distributed amongst 112 children. But on
that particular day, 32 children were absent. Thus the remaining children got 6 extra sweets.
How many sweets was each child originally supposed to get ?

(a)    24
(b)    18
(c)    15
(d)    Cannot be determined
(e)    None of these

1. (c) 15
Let each Child gets x Sweets originally.
112x = 80(x+6)
32x= 480 or x= 15 sweets.

2. The length of a rectangular plot is thrice its breadth. If the area of the rectangular plot is 7803
sq. mts., what is the breadth of the rectangular plot ?

(a)    49 metres
(b)    41 metres
(c)    51 metres
(d)    81 metres
(e)    None of these

2. (c) 51 metres
ATQ,
3B*B= 7803
B^2 = 2601 or B = 51metres

3. A started a business with Rs. 1000. B joins him after 6 months with Rs. 4000. C puts a sum of Rs. 5000 for 4 months only.  At the end of one year the business gave a profit of Rs. 2800. How should the profity be divided among them?
(a)    600, 1200, 1000
(b)    800, 600, 1400
(c)    1000, 1200, 600
(d)    1200, 600, 1000
(e)    None of these.

3 .(a) 600, 1200, 1000
--------------------------A--:--B--:----C
Amount:---- 1000--:--4000--:--5000
Time:------- 12-----:---6----:-----4
Multiplication of amount and time will be the sharing ratio :-
Profit Share :-   1x12--:--4x6--:--5x4
=== > 3:6:5 = 14 as a total share
Total profit = 2800
A’s Share = 3x2800/14 = 600
B’s Share = 6x2800/14 = 1200
C’s share = 5x2800/14 = 1000.

4. A sum of money is to be divided among A,B and C in the ratio 2:3:7. If the total share of A and B together is Rs. 1500 less than C, what is A’s Share in it?
(a)    Rs. 1000
(b)    Rs. 1500
(c)    Rs. 2000
(d)     Data inadequate
(e)    None of these.

4.(b) Rs. 1500
Ratio= 2:3:7
If these were their shares then,
C-(A+B) = 2
But , given difference of their shares is 1500
So,  2------- > 1500
Also A’s share is 2
Hence, A’s Actual share= 1500

5. Arun Sold two flats for Rs. 8,00,000/- each. On one he Gains 16% while on the other he losses 16%. How much does he Gain or loss in the whole Transaction??
a)    Gain 2.56%
b)    Loss 3.00%
c)    Gain 3.56%
d)    Loss 2.56%
e)    None of these

5.(d) Loss 2.56%
Note:- In such cases,  when Common gain or Loss is there, there is always a LOSS
Therefore, Loss %= (Common loss and Gain / 10)^2 = (16/10)^2 = 64/25% = 2.56%

6. A dishonest dealer professes to sell his goods at cost price, but he uses a weight of 960gm for the Kg Weight. Find his Gain percent.
a)    25/6%
b)    27/6%
c)    26/5%
d)    26/7%
e)    None of these

6.(a) 25/6%
Suppose goods cost the dealer Rs.1/Kg.
Now, acc. To question:-
He sells for Rs. 1 what cost him Re0.96
Therefore, Gain on Re0.96= Re1- Re0.96 = Re0.04
Gain on Rs 100= (0.04/0.96)x100 = Rs. 25/6
Gain % = 25/6%

Direct Formula:-
% gain = [ Error/(True Value - Error) ] x 100
Here, Error = True Value – False Weight
== > {40/(1000-40)} x100 = 25/6%

7. A grocer sells rice at a profit of 10% and uses a weight which is 20% less. Find his total percentage gain.
a)    37.5%
b)    30%
c)    28%
d)    Cannot be determined
e)    None of these

7.(a) 37.5%
Detailed Method :- Suppose he bought @ Rs X/kg.
Acc to question:-
Then, he sells at Rs.(110X/100) per (80/100)kg.
Or, at Rs.( 110X * 100) / (100* 80) per kg = 11X/8/kg
Now, % profit = {(11X/8) – X} *100/X = 300/8 = 37.5%

Quicker Method :-
Total % profit= [ (%profit + %less in weight) *100] / (100- % less in weight)
=== > (10+20)*100/(100-20) = (30*100) / 80 = 37.5%

8. A shopkeeper Bought 30 kg of wheat at the rate of Rs 45 per kg. He sold 40% of the total quantity at the rate of Rs 50 per kg. Approximately, at what price per kg should he sell the remaining quantity so as to make an overall profit of 25%??
a)    Rs54
b)    Rs52
c)    Rs50
d)    Rs60
e)    Rs56

8.(d) Rs 60
Total CP of 30Kg = 45x30= Rs. 1350
SP of 40% of 30Kg= (40/100)x30x50= Rs. 600/-
To make overall profit of 25%,
SP= (125/100)x1350= Rs1687.50
Remaining Quantity= 60%of 30= 18
So, SP of 18kg should be Rs. (1687.50-600)= Rs. 1087.50
Price per kg = 1087.50/18 = 60.41667 = 60(Approx)

9. Raviraj Invested an amount of Rs.10000 at a compound interest rate of 10% per annum for a period of three years.How much amount will raviraj get after 3 years.?
(a)    12340
(b)    13210
(c)    13320
(d)    13310
(e)    None of these

9.(d) 13310
100----110-----121----133.1
10000= 133.1x10000/100 = 13310

Also using A formula for CI
A= P(1+r/100)^n
A= 10000(1+10/100)^3
A= 10000(11/10)^3
A= 10000(1331/1000)= 13310

Another Way:-
Also 10% pa for 3 years is equivalent to 33.10%pa for 1 year
A = 10000 + (10000*33.10*1/100) = 10000+3310 = 13310

10. Rajni  invested an amount of Rs. 16000 for 2 years at compound interest and received an amount of Rs17640 on maturity. What is the rate of interest?
(a)    8pcpa
(b)    5pcpa
(c)    4pcpa
(d)    3pcpa
(e)    None of these

10.(b) 5pcpa
CI = 17640-16000= 1640
CI = PR’T/100
1640*100/16000 = R’
R’= 10.25%pa
10.25%pa is equivalent to 5%pa for two years at CI
Ist year -------5%
IInd year-----5.25%
