LIC AAO | QUANT QUIZ - 18 | S W A G

Directions (Q. 1-10): Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions :-

1. Population of a city is 8 lakh. If the annual birth rate and death rates of the city are 6.3% and 1.8% respectively then what will be the population of city after two years ?

(a)    873620
(b)    864860
(c)    858640
(d)    886410
(e)    897580

(a) 873620
EXPLANATION :-
Net Population Increase = 6.3-1.8 = 4.5%
Required Population = 800000*1.045*1.045 = 873620
Alternate :-
Net Population Increase = 6.3-1.8 = 4.5%
100----(after 1year)-->104.5 ---> (after 2 year)-->(109.2025)
Now, Unitary method:-
100 ------------becomes---> 109.2025
8,00,000 willl become = 109.2025*800000/100 = 873620
More easy as calulation becomes easier :)

2. A man purchased two cycles for Rs. 10000, He sold the first cycle at 18% profit and second cycle at 10% loss. In the whole process he gained Rs. 36. What is the cost price of two cycles ?

(a)    3900,6160
(b)    3800,6200
(c)    3700,6300
(d)    3600,6400
(e)    None of these

(c) 3700,6300
EXPLANATION :-
Let CP of first and second be x and y respectively.
ATQ:-
x+y = 10000…(ii)
18x/100 – 10y/100 = 36
18x-10y = 3600…(ii)
Solving we get,
x= 3700 and y = 6300

3. Two men and 5 women earn Rs.4250 in 17 days. If 7 men and 8 women earn Rs.6281 in 11 days then in how many days 6 men and 9 women will earn Rs. 8928 ?

(a)    12 days
(b)    14 days
(c)    16 days
(d)    18 days
(e)    None of these

(c) 16 days.
EXPLANATION :-
2M+5W = 4250/17 = 250/day
7M+8W = 6281/11 = 571/day
Solving, we get M= 45/day, and W = 32/day
Therefore, 6M+9W= 270+288 = 558/day.
In X days they earned 8928.
Therefore, 558*X = 8928
X= 8928/558 = 16 days.

4. A train covered a certain distance at uniform speed. If the train would have been 12 km/hr. faster, it would have taken 15 hrs. less and if the train were slower by 12 km/hr. it would have taken 25 hours more. What is the length of the journey?

(a)    2400 km
(b)    2700 km
(c)    3000 km
(d)    3200 km
(e)    3600 km

(e) 3600 km
EXPLANATION :-
Let the speed be X km and actual  Time taken = Y hrs.
Distance = XY km
ATQ:-
XY = (X+12)(Y-15).
== > 12Y-15X = 180 or 4Y-5X = 60.
Also, XY = (X-12)(Y+25)== > 25X-12Y = 300
Solving both we get,
X= 48 and Y = 75
Hence, Distance = XY = 48*75 = 3600

5. An article was sold for certain price and there was a gain of 50%. If it would have been sold for Rs.80 Less, there would be neither gain nor loss. Find the C.P.?

(a)    100
(b)    130
(c)    160
(d)    150
(e)    Can’t be determined

(c) Rs. 160
EXPLANATION :-
Let CP be X, Profit = 50%
SP = 1.5X
1.5X-80 = X
0.5X = 80 or X = 160

6. A man is walking around a rectangular park at a speed of 7 km/h. and completes one round in 20 minute. What is the perimeter of the park?

(a)    110 m
(b)    140 m
(c)    2.33 m
(d)    1.35 m
(e)    None of these

(e) None of these (2.33 km)
EXPLANATION :-
Perimeter = Distance Travelled
== > Distance travelled = Speedx Time = 7x20/60 = 2.33 km

7. In how may ways 'RECEPTION' can be written so that vowel and consonant come alternately?

(a)    120
(b)    60
(c)    420
(d)    1400
(e)    2880

(e) 2880
EXPLANATION :-
5consonant + 4 vowel = > 5!*4! = 120*24 = 2880

8. A started a bussiness with a sum of `14000. After 4 months, B entered with an amount of Rs 12000 and A added another 2,000 in the business. After 6 months, C entered with Rs.20000 and 'B' withdrew ` 2000 from the business. What will be C's share of profit out of a total profit of Rs 94000 at the end of 2 years.?

(a)    37600
(b)    20400
(c)    36000
(d)    18000
(e)    26000

(c) 36000
EXPLANATION :-
Share of Profit = Amt invested * time
A= 14000x4+ 16000x20 = 376000
B= 12000x2+ 10000x18 = 204000
C= 20000x18 = 360000
Ratio of share = 376:204:360
C’s Share = 94000x360/940 = 36000

9. The product of ages of Harshit and Haritika is 240. If Hritika would have been twice her age she will be 4 years elder to Harshit. What is Haritika's age now?

(a)    16 years
(b)    20 years
(c)    12 years
(d)    10 years
(e)    15 years

(c) 12 years
EXPLANATION :-
Let  Haritika and harshit age be x and y respectively
xy= 240
2x-4 =y
X(2x-4) = 240
2x^2- 4x-240 = 0
Solving we get x= 12,-20
Hece, Haritika’s age = 12 years.

10. Taps A, B and C are comected to a water tank and the rate of flow of water from them is 42 litre/hr, 56 litre/hr and 48 litre/hr respectively. If tap A and B are filling the tank and C is emptying it and the tank gets filled in 16 hrs. What is the capacity of the tank?

(a)    150 litre
(b)    960 litre
(c)    800 litre
(d)    1200 litre
(e)    500 litre

(c) 800 litre
EXPLANATION :-
Efficiencies of A , B and C are given
Together they have efficiency = A+B-C= 42+56-48 = 50 litre/hr
Time = 16 hrs
Capacity = 16x50 = 800 litre
